ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Greg BeanGregory R. Bean, Esq., is of-counsel at Stark & Knoll in its Estate Planning & Probate Group. Greg's practice is focused on estate planning, probate and trust administration, and probate litigation. Greg’s 35 years in the trust banking industry have given him the necessary experience to handle some of the most comprehensive and involved estate planning and probate matters.

Active in community affairs, Greg is Chairman of the Board of the AkronSummit Visitors and Convention Bureau and a board member for the Akron Auto Club, The Akron Zoological Park and the Western Reserve Historical Society. He is past president of Bluecoats, Inc. of Summit County and Vice-Chairman of the East Ohio United Methodist Foundation, Chairman of the Investment Committee and is a certified lay speaker for the Canal District of the East Ohio United Methodist Conference. In addition, he is currently the Vice President and Treasurer of the Akron Rural Cemetery Association, Chairman of the Administrative Board of the First United Methodist Church of Akron and a member of the Foundation Board at Akron General Medical Center. He also is past chairman of Goodwill Industries and is a member of the Advisory Counsel at Hale Farm and Village.

Greg graduated from The University of Akron School of Law and The University of Akron Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences.

 

Liz GanocyElizabeth Ganocy is Project Director of Leave a Legacy, Summit, Portage, Medina, a partnership of non-profits and allied professionals whose mission is to encourage donors to leave a gift in their estates to their favorite charity. She has more than 30 years of experience in the nonprofit, financial, and banking sectors, working with donors and volunteers to advance the financial goals of each organization.

Prior to Leave a Legacy, Liz was a Lead Consultant for Kimball Consulting LLC, providing fundraising guidance and assistance to nonprofit organizations. She has served as Senior Manager of Planned and Corporate Gifts for the American Red Cross of Greater Cleveland, Director of Planned Giving for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and Associate Director of Development for the Natural Areas Division, Planned Giving and Major Donor Specialist for Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine Health System, and Director of Planned Giving for the Cleveland Orchestra. In addition, she served as a fundraising consultant for the Girls Scouts of America. Prior to her work in the nonprofit world, she worked for many years as a trust officer at several banks in the Cleveland area, including National City Bank, Huntington Bank, and FirstMerit Bank, helping high net worth individuals plan for the future. Prior to that, she worked for ten years as a financial consultant with Merrill Lynch.

Liz has a BS Ed from Kent State University and did graduate work in Urban Studies at the University of Akron. She is a member and past President of the Northern Ohio Planned Giving Council and past National Philanthropy Day Chair for the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Cleveland Chapter, and a member of the Estate Planning Council of Cleveland and the Medina Estate Planning Council.

 

Nanci MillerNanci Miller has been in the non-profit field of development for over 11 years, serving in various capacities from development director to marketing and communications. She began her career in the non-profit field with the American Heart Association as the Heart Walk Director for Stark County, Ohio and later served that organization in the capacity of Go Red for Women Director, for which she won the Excellence in Fundraising Award for the top Go Red for Women event in 2009. Nanci went on to work with The Arc of Stark County as Development and Marketing Director and then on to Pegasus Farm, serving as Marketing and Communications Director. She currently serves as Project Director for Leave a Legacy Stark County.

Nanci graduated from University of Mount Union with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and is currently pursuing her CFRM (Certificate in Fundraising Management) with the Indiana University Lilly School of Philanthropy. She is expected to achieve certification in early fall 2017.
